While highways can usually get you to your destination faster, they don’t always enhance the bucolic landscape, which slips further from view with every kilometre you travel. It’s time to enter the poetry of back roads to catch a glimpse of the beauty of the world.

Artists Eruoma Awashish and Priscilla Vaillancourt pave the way for intimate paths, driven by universal themes. In two video artworks, they take to the heart of the forest various issues and reflections imbued with emotion and symbolism.

Produced by the contemporary art centre Langage Plus, the Chemins secondaires project was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the city of Alma, as part of the Programme de partenariat territorial du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean 2019-2020. Langage Plus also acknowledges the important contribution of Canopée Médias and La Bande Sonimage to the project.
